Revelation The Book – Session 2

October 2, 2019 by Providence Baptist Church Leave a Comment

The Background of Revelation

Theological

  • Eschatology
  • Covenant
  • Prophets

Eschatology is the study of end times; the study of last things.

2/3 of the Bible is prophecy.

Daniel 2:44, Matthew 12:28

We are now living in the end time.  – 1 Corinthians 2:9-10 and Ephesians 1

God gave us the Holy Spirit so that we could be used by God.  If you don’t have the Holy Spirit dwelling in you you could be deceived by the AntiChrist.

Covenant –

The book of Revelation is a covenant book.

2 Samuel 7:1-17

Psalms 8, 9, 132

It’s the covenant of David.

It has a threefold pattern:

  1.  Benevolance – he tells us all that he’s got for us.
  2. Loyalty- what is expected of us.
  3. Consequences – Obedience brings blessings.  Disobedience brings curses.

We are in a time of testing to reveal our hearts.

Prophets – Covenant Ambassadors – Kings would send out the ambassadors.  They could not be sent out unless they were sold out to the King.  They lived it out and they finished it out.

The book of Revelation is to encourage you to obey.

A prophet is a Covenant lawyer  to execute Yahweh’s law.

A prophet is foretelling and forthtelling.  Jeremiah 18:7-10

Assurance – God assures things with his sworn Word.  Amos 4:2

Potential Results

  1.  Revoked – Joel 12:12-14
  2. Delayed – 2 Kings 20:1-7
  3. Reduced – 2 Chronicles 12:5-12
  4. Increased – Daniel 9:1-27
  5. Unmodified

The Revelation of Who Jesus Is to Me

October 1, 2019 by Providence Baptist Church Leave a Comment

Revelation 1:9-20

This is the first in a series of sermons from the book of Revelation.  There will be deeper studies in the book of Revelation on Wednesday nights.  You can find those here.

Revelation is simple – “Jesus wins.”

God wants you to know Him because He knows you.

He wants you to know what He knows about you so that you will repent.  God is always revealing Himself.  No one saw God as Father until Jesus came.  This is found in Isaiah 63-64.

The nature of the Holy Spirit is to make change.  The Spirit of God is the part of the Godhead that transforms the natural into the supernatural.  The book of Revelation is to introduce you to an aspect of Jesus you have never seen.

In the Old Testament, Jesus was known as The Word.  Jesus, when He was on earth came representing the Father.  He became the lamb to be a sacrifice for our sins.  The first thing you see about Jesus in the book of  Revelation is that the Lamb becomes the Lion.  When you see what God sees in you, it demands repentance.

The Miracle Six Day War

September 29, 2019 by Providence Baptist Church Leave a Comment

Matthew 24:32-35

Prior to 1967

The greatest miracle in 2000 years took place in 1967.

This is the beginning point of the End Times.

MAIN IDEAS:

  • This war is the foundation of the end of the end.
  • Introduction of the Spirit of how all things will play out.
  • It is a time mark.

I. Why is this important to know?

a.  It is the foundation of the end of the end.

b.  The spirit of how it would be played out:

-1. God, miracles.

-2. No misreading it as manmade.

c.  It is a time mark that we can determine things to come.

II.  What were the miracles of the Six Day war?

a.  the language of a 19-year-old nation

b.  a civilian army that could only two weeks at most to be off work

c.  David versus the giants

d.  Events:

Russia armed the Egyptians with the best fighting jets and anti-aircraft on May the 14th, 1967, Russia sent out false reports concerning Israel under events.

The USA President Johnson refused to help Israel events.

Egypt moved into the Sinai desert to Israel events. Israel begins to prepare for many deaths by taking all of the national parks and making graveyards out of them. Pre digging graves.

Israel preempts Egyptian attack miracles. The Egyptians had the wrong code and the wrong frequency on that day and could not warn the Egyptians next. The term “under the radar” became coined by the Israeli air force flying approximately 100 feet off the ground at 500 miles an hour so the radars could not detect them.

e. Miracles:

  • The Arab leaders were reviewing the Egyptian army in the air, so made a command that no anti-aircraft weapons were to be used. Israel without knowing this. Within this same hour struck the Egyptians.
  • Egyptians had no planes in the air. Five Air Force bases of the Egyptians were hit by the Israelis at the same time.
  • Greatest war victory since Biblical times.  Israel was only 19 years old.
  • The re-birth of the Hebrew language.
  • A primitive war.

No nation will stand with Israel in the last days.

End Times Prophecy By the Letter – LGBTQIA – Part 2

September 15, 2019 by Providence Baptist Church Leave a Comment

John 8:3-11

  1.  Jesus did not mark her as an adulterer but he talked about what she did.
  2. He forgave her.
  3. He sent her away with a warning, “Go and sin no more!”

Why is this such a tremendous sin?

There are sins that Scripture tells us are an abomination.  You can find these in the following Scripture:

Genesis 19

Leviticus 1, 20

Judges 19

Romans 1

1 Corinthians 6

1 Timothy 1

Revelation

All sin has the same wages – death.

Abomination is found 76 times in 69 verses.

Divided into 2 sections – prior to the cross – under the law.  After the cross – under grace.

Proverbs 15:8

Websters 1828 Edition defines “abomination”  – extreme hatred, something that is detestable.

  • His hatred is based upon what it does to his children and to creation.
  • He hates it because of what that sin does to the person He created.
  • The sins have destructive qualities toward hurting others.

7 Abominations

  1. Idol Worship
  2. Human Sacrifice (abortion)
  3. Witchcraft
  4. Corruption
  5. Gender Mixture – Deuteronomy 22:5
  6. Homosexuality – LGBTQIA & Incest – Leviticus 18:22
  7. Desolation – Matthew 24:14-15

Hell is an endless duration of wrath.  Wrath of abomination.

Romans 1:24,26, 28

God gives them a false peace.

3 Stages of the Judgment of God

  1. Sexual deviance – pornography
  2. Homosexual revolution
  3. Depravity – Hatred of God & Debauchery

The judgment of God is at the door.

God’s wrath is about to be poured out.
